Scholarship Information
The National Science Foundation Graduate Fellowship (NSF GRFP) awards support for graduate studies leading to a career in research for the natural, engineering, and social sciences. To apply, applicants complete both an academic plan and research proposal. Field-specific deadlines occur in late October.
(Requires Institutional Nomination): For sophomores and juniors interested in a research career in mathematics and the sciences. Institutional Deadline: December 1; Scholarship Deadline: late January.
Offered through the National Science Foundation, this program supports undergraduates interested in intensive research at other institutions in STEM or some social science fields during the summer at top universities.
The Fulbright Canada-Mitacs Globalink Research Internship is intended for U.S. students interested in coming to Canada to undertake advanced research projects for 10 to 12 weeks (between May and August) in their area of interest. Projects will be drawn from a broad cross-section of research topics covering all academic disciplines, and students will be placed with a university research project under the supervision of a professor.
The Science Undergraduate Laboratory Internships (SULI) program encourages undergraduate students and recent graduates to pursue science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) careers by providing research experiences at the Department of Energy (DOE) laboratories.
Department of Defense Cyber Service Academy Scholarship Full-ride scholarship, covers all tuition, fees, books, a laptop computer, plus $29,000 per year living expenses for juniors and seniors who are US Citizens interested in working in civilian cybersecurity roles in the Department of Defense for at least one year after graduation. Applications are accepted from November 1 to February 1 each year.
Funded by the U.S. Department of State, the two-year fellowship provides academic funding for an IT-related degree, internships, and professional development leading up to an appointment in the Foreign Service as a Diplomatic Technology Officer.
(Requires Institutional Nomination): For sophomores and juniors pursuing environmental studies and public policy and/or to Native American and Alaska Natives in fields related to health care and tribal public policy. Institutional Deadline: January 15.
Scholarship Information
This scholarship funds study abroad or internships for students with a Pell grant. It aims to diversify both the countries students study as well as the types of students who do study abroad. Deadlines are in the spring and fall.
The scholarships support U.S. undergraduates who will pursue the study of languages and cultures currently underrepresented in study abroad and critical to U.S. national security. The Boren Fellowship is designed to give grad students maximum flexibility to pursue their academic goals alongside their target language. In exchange for fellowship funding, all Boren Fellows must agree to the . Internal deadline is December 15.
Freeman-ASIA provides scholarships for U.S. undergraduate students who have demonstrated financial need to study abroad in East or Southeast Asia.
The Critical Language Scholarship is a fully-funded program that provides students with the opportunity to study one of 15 critical foreign languages, including Arabic, Chinese, Russian, and more. This prestigious scholarship covers tuition, room and board, and even travel expenses, making it a great opportunity for students who want to expand their language skills and gain international experience.

This program offers unparalleled opportunities in all academic disciplines to passionate and accomplished graduating college seniors, graduate students, and young professionals from all backgrounds. NOTE: While the Institutional deadline is September 1, students should contact the NCS office well in advance for assistance in writing their proposal.
