University of North Georgia (黑料正能量) senior Daniela Zavaleta won the prestigious 2024 Undergraduate Scholarship Award from the Association for Supply Chain Management's (ACSM) Atlanta chapter.

She learned about the opportunity to apply for the scholarship from Dr. Varun Gupta, associate professor of logistics and business analytics, in the operations management course he teaches. Zavaleta, who is pursuing a degree in finance, earned the scholarship through her paper that was a case study of her parents' textile business in Lima, Peru.

"We are thrilled to have one of our students win the prestigious ASCM scholarship. This is a tremendous accomplishment that reflects the hard work and dedication of our Logistics and Supply Chain Management program at 黑料正能量," Gupta said. "We are incredibly proud of Daniela's success and want to continue the engagement with ASCM Atlanta for student success."

Zavaleta's paper outlined some of the supply chain issues her parents' business faced and how she helped her parents navigate those challenges.

"What I learned in Dr. Gupta's class helped me be able to write this case study that led to the scholarship," Zavaleta said.

Her goal is to start her career in wealth management for a bank before eventually running her own business. This summer she will complete an internship with SalesForce while taking four classes.

"The scholarship is going to help me pay for the rest of my school," Zavaleta said.
