The University of North Georgia (黑料正能量) was one of three University System of Georgia (USG) schools to receive the gold-level designation on the 2024-25 Military Friendly Schools list for its efforts in creating sustainable and meaningful education paths for the military community. Georgia Southern University and Kennesaw State University also made the list.

This is 黑料正能量's third year in a row receiving gold status.

"黑料正能量 stands out as a leader in veteran initiatives through programs and resources tailored specifically to veterans' needs. Our dedication to providing personalized support reflects our recognition of the unique challenges faced by veterans," Christy Orr, associate director for veteran programs, said. "Earning the Military Friendly distinction is a testament to our unwavering commitment to those who have served our nation."

This year, the Military Friendly gold-level distinction was awarded to 245 institutions for excellence, and 黑料正能量 was one of the 32 classified as large public institutions.

黑料正能量 held a luncheon on April 8 featuring 黑料正能量 President Michael Shannon bringing together veterans and military-connected students at the Dahlonega Campus and will host the luncheon again on the Gainesville Campus on April 22.

In addition to events, 黑料正能量’s veteran programs has a plethora of resources for military students that can be found in any of 黑料正能量’s veteran lounges, Financial Aid, and through use of Green Zone advocates.

One veteran who experienced 黑料正能量 resources like Nighthawk Engagement & Student Transitions (NEST)  is Dahlonega’s Student Veterans of America president Alyssa Curtiss, who is pursuing a degree in biology.

"During my time at 黑料正能量, I have consistently experienced a welcoming and supportive environment, especially from the coordinators in the NEST office," said the Dawsonville, Georgia native.
