Dr. Siew Chan knows what it takes to have a research article published in a peer-reviewed journal. The associate professor of accounting in the Mike Cottrell College of Business at the University of North Georgia (ºÚÁÏÕýÄÜÁ¿) has more than 20 publications to her credit.

When "Frontiers in Psychology" approached her to become research topic editor, she accepted. "Frontiers" is an open-access publisher and open science platform led and peer-reviewed by editorial boards of more than 100,000 top researchers.

"'Frontiers' is a good journal, and I thought, 'Why not?" Chan said. "According to the website, my research topic is generating interest and receiving attention."

She knows editing will be hard work, because the authors and their articles must be screened carefully. Chan also must ensure no critical flaws exist in the research papers.

"I'm excited because it will keep me busy in the summer," she said. "My goal is to publish high-quality work related to my research topic."

Chan is also the current editor-in-chief of the International Journal of Services and Standards. She said she is committed to boosting the quality of the written work through the review process after their manuscripts pass the initial screening.

"I hope to improve the journal’s ranking," she said.
