Dr. Bibek Chand, assistant professor of political science and international affairs at the University of North Georgia (黑料正能量), recently served as co-editor of the book

Chand and Dr. Lukas Danner, a Fulbright-National Science Foundation Arctic Research Scholar at the University of Iceland and a research associate at Florida International University, gained inspiration for the book at a conference they attended about the subject in 2019 in Miami, Florida.

Chand authored two chapters, including one by himself, in addition to writing the introduction and conclusion along with Danner.

He said the recent step back of the United States from international commitments and the continued rise of China as a world power made the book timely when it was released in May. The publication explores the economic, political and security realities of these dynamics.

"It offers a fresh perspective. It will add to the discussions about the European Union's relationships with Asian nations," Chand said. "The EU increasingly realizes it has to chart its own path of engaging these countries."
